Request Registry of Deeds Searches against the Grantors (Vendor, Lessor or Mortgagor) ‘Index of Names’ for unregistered title*. Or Search against the mortgagee for the ‘Release’ of a mortgage.
This Registry of Deeds Index is searchable by grantors name, in conjunction with a specific property, and for a spread of years as required. Although these searches are manually conducted by our very experienced staff, our website allows searches to be ordered alongside other instant closing search types (Judgments, Bankruptcies, Folios, etc) and placed into our automated work queue.
Note: Ellis & Ellis certify that we conduct all deeds searches by hand, and that we follow all Registry of Deeds recommended ‘official search’ protocols.
WARNING: DEEDS SEARCHES COMPLETED ONLY BY THE USE OF AUTO FILTERING TOOLS AND SEARCH AIDS AS USED BY SOME LAW SEARCHERS ARE NOT CONCLUSIVE AND MAY LEAD TO SEARCH RESULTS OMMISSIONS.
* Note :
The Registry of Deeds was established as a voluntary registration system in 1708 to register and file memorials of deeds or transfers of unregistered land. “Unregistered title” is defined by the Registry of Deeds as ‘…property the title to which is not registered or deemed to be registered in the Land Registry under the Registration of Title Act 1964. The existence of deeds in relation to such property should be recorded in the Registry of Deeds….’
